How Do You Make a Berry Cobbler From Scratch

- ¾ tbsp. lemon juice

- 1 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Spray a 9”x 6” baking dish with non-stick baking spray.
- In a large bowl add the berries.
- Drizzle the berries with lemon juice.
- Toss to combine.
- Add the cornstarch to the berries and toss to combine.
- Allow the berries to marinate for 20 minutes.
- In a separate large bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Set to the side.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla until well-blended.
- Slowly add in the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles little crumbs.
- Pour the berries into the baking dish.
- Drop the dough evenly on top of the berries.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned.

Do you have to defrost berries if using frozen ???
Hi Kim. It is best to defrost them to ensure you won’t have any uncooked berries in the cobbler.
Delicious dessert. I doubled the recipe to fit a 9×13 pan. The crust was golden on top but a bit undercooked like cookie dough. I will add a few extra minutes next time and cover with foil

Delicious, my family and I loved it. The only thing is that 30 minutes wasn’t long enough, the dough was still raw so I baked it for another 15 minutes.

I used 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 c coconut oil. I was a little short on strawberries so I used more blackberries. I had to cook it for at least an additional 20 mins. My husband can’t stop raving how good it is. Thanks. This one’s a keeper!

I used fresh berries I had on hand (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries). The instructions were easy to follow, and everything appeared to come together easily. I was surprised that there is no granulated sugar in the recipe, but oh how flavorful it is! It’s not overly sweet and the berries’ flavors come through really well.
