The Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make Cheddar Bay Biscuits (the exact measurements and full recipe instructions are below in the easy to print recipe card):

  • All-purpose flour
  • Baking powder – the baking powder gives the biscuits a light, fluffy texture.
  • Granulated sugar – the sugar just balances the flavors, but does not make the biscuits sweet.
  • Garlic powder – the garlic is so important to this recipe! We used a good organic garlic powder that has great flavor.
  • Salt
  • Cayenne pepper – this is optional but adds a nice hint of flavor. It does not make the biscuits spicy.
  • Paprika
  • Buttermilk – if you don’t have buttermilk, regular milk will work. Buttermilk is thicker, so if you use regular milk you may need to add a little extra flour if the batter is too thin.
  • Butter – we used regular salted butter.
  • Cheddar cheese – the cheese is super important in this recipe! We like to use a sharp cheddar for the best cheese flavor, but any cheddar you like will work well.
  • Fresh parsley – you’ll use the parsley in the garlic butter glaze after the biscuits are baked. It’s okay to skip this ingredient if you don’t have any fresh parsley on hand.
